Prakruthi Dhwani Season 2:
PERFORMANCES
The 2017 edition of Prakurthi Dwani Season 2, titled “Nature’s Streak”, was presented in Tirupathi and at Bhubaneswar, India. The concept was Saptha Maatrika – The Seven Divine Mothers. The scintillating performance by the students was awe-inspiring and left a great impact on the local audience. Ministry of Culture, Sangeet Nataka Academy and Konark Natya mandap joined hands with us in making this event glorious. We visited the famous Konark Sun temple and learned the temple architecture. Other visits included Puri and Jagannath, Buddhist caves, Study of Jaya Deva and importance of Puri, at Konark.
WORKSHOPS
Guru Sri. Chinta Adinarayana Sharma conducted an exclusive workshop/speech session in Tirupathi for our students on the journey of how Kuchipudi dance which followed a drama tradition transformed into solo repertoires.
The students and the team of Lecturers, were trained in Odissi, on a two day workshop where we learned a dance piece called Magala Charan. The complete team stayed at Konark Natya Mandap for 3 days, similar to a Gurukulam concept in early days. While our stay, we witnessed the Gotipua dance, authentic to the local artistes in Odissa. We were also given an insight about the history and evolution of Odissi and Chau dance.
