ABOUT Vimmi B Eswar

Sri Gurubhyo Namaha

Mrs.  Vimmi B Eswar is an ardent performer of the Indian classical dance, especially the ‘Kuchipudi’ style.
She has professionalized herself into the path of “Kuchipudi“, a traditional classical art form of Bharatiya tradition with the ultimate level of passion and devotion.  She has also professionally qualified in Kuchipudi Nrithyam and Certification under the guidance of Guru Shri Dr. Chinta Adinarayana Sharma, a legendary Guru of Kuchipudi lineage.

She has trained herself in Masters of Arts (Bharatanatyam) from Periyar University.  Further, she completed her Certification in Nattuvangam from Thanjavur University, augmenting the cultural knowledge and the nuances.

Her Passion

Having started research, she felt the need to explore the finer aspects and nuances of the beautiful art forms of Kuchipudi and Bharata Natyam.

Her vision is to bring out the exact beauty and elegance regarding techniques and to present the History, Origin, and basic principles with utmost purity. She is of the sole belief that “dance is a discipline and a way of life.” Through her teachings, she intends to reveal the significance of divine thoughts among individuals using the dance form.

Her teaching program focuses on bringing awareness about the art form from the region of performance. It involves specialized training from the prominent Gurus in dance.

It shares her vision, “we are part of nature and live to the tunes of Mother Nature, hence, this is not a training but a Gurukul thought of tuning into the way of living in the art form.”

She trusts that concept-based performance is unique in bringing out the best which is an outcome of her thought “Every person, every space, every creation is unique. They are the best and one of their kind.”

Whilst learning the great Bhartiya tradition of music and dance, she believes it’s our primary responsibility of knowing about the greatness of the culture. To her, dance simply signifies ‘One world of (HE) Art and one expression of love.’

Guru Shishya Paramapariya Prayana

S Guru Shishya Paramapariya Prayana
She began her Kuchipudi tutelage in Abu Dhabi, at the age of 5, in Sri Bhagavatula Rama Kotaiah lineage from Mrs. Arti Dolwani in the United Arab Emirates.

Later adapted to Guru Sri Padma Bhushan Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam style of Kuchipudi considering the Guru's significant contribution and aesthetics it brought into the Art form. With the guidance of various experts trained under the Great Master of Kuchipudi , Padma Bhushan Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam Master, she imbibed the art style through immense training because of affiliation and attraction with dance form and its uniqueness.

Further, she learned and attended master class ‘one to one’ and workshops exploring the Kuchipudi specialization under

  • Dr. Uma Rama Rao, an eminent professor of Kuchipudi, Retired HOD Pottu Sri Alamelu University, Hyderabad. I received her personal blessings because of my urge to explore the best nuance in the Kuchipudi art form.
  • Guru Padmashri Smt. Sobha Naidu, a great performer and the director of Srinivasa Kuchipudi Art Academy, has inspired me to learn a realistic way of graceful movements of Kuchipudi, highlight Abhinayam repertoire emphasizing and comparing the male Vs. Female Abhinaya, since the dance form has enveloped from ‘male-only act’ in the past to androgynous performances. The demonstration of the “Kuchela” episode in Maragatha Mani Maya Keerthana by Guru Shoba Naidu during my visit had instilled in me a burning desire to perform with full of enthusiasm, leaving behind all inhibitions. This instilled in me the passion to adorn the future.
  • Guru Smt. Anupama Mohan,
  • a Disciple of Padmashri Padma Bhushan Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam Master, who shares her experiences of the Gurukul at the Kuchipudi Art Academy. She provides a sense of inspiration to explore further the creative aspects of this beautiful dance form. It is her training in the finer aspects of the body movements and repertoires, that adds a lot of life, love, and affection into the art form.
  • Guru Smt. Manju Bhargavi, a Disciple of Padmashri Padma Bhushan Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam, who imposes the strict traits of Angika Abhinaya. Her in-depth training involves emphasis on torso movements, intricate footwork in basics, propagating the strict discipline in Kuchipudi, starting from “Prayer” to “Repertoires” and “Choreography.” It was an added value to adore and align with the art Form.
  • Guru Sri. Kesava Prasad, a Legendary Guru from Kuchipudi District had shared insights into the History, Origin, and Development of the Kuchipudi Dance. The revelation of him, about the founder of Siddendra Kalakshetram, the first and formal dance school in Kuchipudi by Guru Shri Vedantam Parvatheesam and about the founder’s beautiful repertoires, other great maestros’ contributions detailing Kuchipudi, Andhra temple dancers and like, prompted me to further research with the theoretical aspects.

Mrs. Vimmi's words

I continue to learn Kuchipudi and its various styles and technique, in theory, and heritage. My core vision is to specialize in Abhinayam which is derived from the original form of Kuchipudi and to present valuable research into the finer aspects of evolution in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. As a part of the research and urge in continuous progressive learning, I’m currently concentrating on ‘one to one’ learning, and also exploring the evolution of Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam, its traditional nuances, adapting to the expansion of migration, under:

Kastoori. I visited Guru Smt. Kastoori when she was conducting her MA thesis about the similitude of the great dance forms of India, Kuchipudi, and Bharata Natyam.
